Taiwan / 台湾

taipei

Last March I went to Taiwan to visit a friend who is living there. I was surprised to see a lot of motorbikes there (quite as many as bicycles in Kyoto) but also there were lots of tasty food everywhere you went. And also lots of fruit which was a lot cheaper than in Japan.

From Taipei we went to several places like Jiufen, Danshui, Pingxi…

Jiufen is a little town where Hayao Miyazaki got inspired for some of the landscapes of Spirited Away. There we had some tea while enjoying the beautiful environments. From there we thought on going to Houton through a hiking path we saw be we were unprepared and got tired soon enough and decided to get back.

The next day we took the train and visited Houton which is a little village with cats everywhere you look. 8594458598_c3cbd328d5_bAfter that we went to Shifen where we saw the waterfall and lots of people writing and letting Sky Lanterns fly. This was usually done in Pingxi, where we were heading afterwards but, due to a film, Shifen got famous and lots of people do that there now.

So yeah, we had a great time (and great weather!) around eating different and tasty food, visiting nice places and drinking fresh fruit juices. It was fun!
